Making Your Own Homemade Dog Food

August 11th, 2007 by admin | Filed under Uncategorized.

Since after the pet food scare, many are now making their own homemade . This allows them to regulate what their pets are actually eating so nothing horrible will occur.

Pets eating a homemade diet are also not eating all of the preservatives that are found in commercial food. Not to mention, these pets are much healthier and happier. Should you wish to make such , here are some things you need to know.

Many feel that making homemade is more expensive than buying commercial . Yes, it may be a little bit more expensive: but, not by much. Also, if you consider the nutritional value of a homemade diet versus that of a diet of commercial , and if you knew what was actually in commercial , you would want to make that change. The change does not have to be that hard as the food is relatively easy to prepare.

What you need to do is get your hands on some raw ground meat. It can be chicken, turkey, or beef. The choice is yours. Put the meat into a bowl and add some finely minced vegetables of your choice. They can be broccoli spinach, or any other green. Make sure the vegetables are minced so fine that you can barely see them. This makes it easier for the dog to digest. If you can see pieces of the vegetables in their stool, this is a clue that you must mince them much finer as this is an indication that the dog is having trouble digesting the food.

When you are about to the food, add a cup of warm water to the mix. This will heat it up slightly, and the heat will radiate the animal smells to simulate the experience of eating prey in the wild. For the dog, this is very enjoyable as this is what is natural to them.

If you are not feeding your dog homemade , now is the time to start. You dog would not be able to thank you enough as he will have health he never dreamed of.
