Sugar Glider As A Pet - They Are Cute, Adorable, And You Just Want To Cuddle One… But Beware!
February 8th, 2009 by admin | Filed under Uncategorized.Yes those adorable little Sugar gliders….who can resist that cute gorgeous little face?
And that is the problem with this tiny little fur ball cutie.
Their looks can really be deceiving.
Whilst they look adorable they unfortunately have a high level of abandonment and the reasons only become obvious after you actually own one.
For instance lets look at the cage.
Sugar Gliders are “free roaming” in their case they “glide” from tree to tree and unlike caged birds they require lots and lots of room otherwise they may simply curl up and die.
Remember they are Wild Creatures they are a nocturnal animal and this means that they go about their business when every one else is asleep.
So they make noise, lots of it, hissing, clicking, snapping, snarling and it can be fairly loud and annoying.
Not only that these cute creatures often bite when they are picked up so owners beware!! they have teeth and use them!!
Another thing you need to know is that they eat live bugs, worms, crickets etc not grass, or seeds like hamsters and rabbits so you need to provide them this food…regularly.
Sugar Gliders are the best when they are left in the wild, yes they are cute and adorable looking creatures but they are not an ideal pet.
In most cases when they are taken for a pet, the Sugar Glider looses out once the novelty of their cuteness wears out and the realities of keeping a wild animal is driven home.
Sugar Gliders also have a very strong smell ( Like a skunk in some cases) and that can be very off putting when exhibiting them to your friends and neighbors.
Read more on this before you decide to take one as a pet it will be worth the heart ache.
Sugar Gliders a almost irresistible they are so beautiful and cuddly you just have to have one…..but be WARNED!
